What did you do this past week?

This past week I was mainly focused on finishing up the Voting project. I got most of it done last weekend, so this week was mainly making sure the makefile worked properly and cleaning up my code.

What’s in your way?

I think the main thing that’s in my way is just making sure that I understand Professor Downing’s allocator implementation and that I completely understand pointers and references.

What will you do next week?

This week I plan on starting the Allocator project and hopefully get a solution that at least passes the first HackerRank test.

If you read it, what did you think of Why Is Silicon Valley So Awful to Women?

I thought it was a really interesting read. I’ve always heard that the tech industry can be pretty unfriendly towards women, but to hear about actual experiences from women that have worked in Silicon Valley for years was kind of eye-opening. I was hoping that the types of incidents and the workplace cultures that they described in the article weren’t as common anymore, but it seems like they’re still as present as ever in the tech industry.

What was your experience of arrays, equal(), and iterators? (this question will vary, week to week)

I had a pretty good understanding of arrays, equal(), and iterators from this week’s lectures. I feel confident that I’ll be able to implement them in the upcoming assignment.

What made you happy this week?

This weekend, my roommate and I went to Lucy in Disguise and Tesoros’s on South Congress. If you haven’t been, you should definitely check them out!

What’s your pick-of-the-week or tip-of-the-week?

This video from the Facebook recruiting team has some really good tips for how to prepare for and do well in coding interviews. If you haven’t seen it yet, I would definitely check it out!
