What did you do this week?

This week, I’ve mainly been focused on getting Collatz done, which I was able to do! I was worried that I wasn’t going to be able to get my optimizations working, but I was able to implement everything that we talked about in class and submit my code.

What’s in your way?

Right now, there’s nothing in my way. I have my code working and my tests done, so I really just have to go over the rubric and make sure my code and test cases meet all of the requirements in the rubric.

What will you do next week?

This week, I plan on trying to get an early start on the next project, because I definitely didn’t start early enough on Collatz and I was worried about being able to finish.

What was your experience of Collatz, the starter code, the makefile, its optimizations, and exceptions?

I liked the Collatz lab! Since the basic solution was so simple to implement, it gave me more time to work on optimization techniques and get more familiar with caching, which I haven’t done a lot. I feel like it was a really great introduction into caching, testing, optimizations, and so on, which are really good things to know and I’m glad to be getting more experience with them.

What made you happy this week?

This past week, I walked to the park by my house with a couple of my roommates, and we had a little picnic while we did homework and played frisbee. It was really nice to be able to get out of the house and enjoy the cooler weather.

What’s your pick-of-the-week or tip-of-the-week?

I’ve been having a harder time focusing with everything being online, and one thing that’s really helped me is this app called Forest. It allows you to set timers for when you want to work, and the longer you work without getting on your phone, the more plants you can grow. It’s really helped me stay focused these past few weeks!
